Road and paving materials tests
The “road and paving materials tests” division provides a wide range of routine and advanced testing techniques with the purpose to determine whether asphalt / bitumen products meet their product certification and performance requirements. All experimental tests are carried out by means of advanced equipment and highly qualified personnel.
The following main testing activity is commonly carried out by the division:
- on-site bitumen sampling
- on-site asphalt sampling
- on-site bituminous emulsions sampling
- determination of binder content of mixtures of bitumen and aggregates
- determination of binder content in bitumen emulsions
- determination of water content in bitumen emulsions
- determination of the paraffin content
- determination of the penetration
- determination of the breaking-point, FRAASS method
- determination of the weight of the volume of the mixtures
- determination of porosity or voids percentage
- determination of density
- determination of the bulk density of the granules
- determination of the bulk density of thickened aggregates
- determination of solubility in organic solvents
- determination of softening point
- determination of the flash point
- determination of the ductility
- determination of the amount of material passing the 0.075 sieve
- determination of the amount of material retained through a sieve of 0.85 mm
- determination of the absorption coefficient
- determination of the equivalent coefficient of sand crushing hydrophilic
- determination of heating loss
- determination of the indirect tensile strength, MARSHALL method
- micro-deval test
- los angeles test
- skid test
- Uniaxial compression test
